Welcome

EuroMoS (short for European Monitoring System) is a non-governmental human rights foundation, which was established at The Hague, the Netherlands on 28 Augustus 2003. It has its office in Amsterdam.

The five member Board consists of advocates, academics and other specialists in the field of criminal law. The chairman, treasurer and secretary, who together form the executive body, are advised by an advisory committee which includes members of the judiciary.

The Foundation has an academic research department which prepares and executes research projects. The empirical research programme serves to establish whether fundamental human rights are safeguarded when suspects or persons who have been sentenced are extradited and surrendered.

Aside from its empirical research, EuroMoS aims to build up a European monitoring system that can record and report on violations of fundamental rights in the administration of criminal justice within the European Union. Such a monitoring system may then serve to promote measures to avoid future violations.
